The Barcode Warehouse is celebrating 35 years in business

From the humble beginnings in 1987, when Ross Lee and Daughter Joanne started what was then named Trent Valley Labels, having bought their first printer from Ross’ brother’s business Focus Label Machinery Limited, and operating from a council rented workshop to becoming the £60m + turnover business it is today. They couldn’t have imagined the journey the business would go on.

The success of the business has very much always and continues to be down to the people within it. The many wonderful, talented, and driven individuals who have joined along the way with their passion, drive, hard work, adaptability and most importantly; their desire to succeed.

Still a family run business today, with the same founding members working hands on within the business, The Barcode Warehouse continues to grow and succeed while still retaining its family values and culture.

Ross Lee, Chairman and founder commented: "When I started the company 35 years ago, I couldn’t have imagined being where we are today. Over the years, The Barcode Warehouse has grown, and we broadened our technology specialisms; this has been made possible through the dedication, passion, and customer focused ethos of our people. While we may no longer be a traditional small family business, I believe our small business ethics of flexibility, customer services and family centric approach is key to our success and has been pivotal in our ability to meet and exceed customers’ needs time and again. I am very proud of everyone!”.

From manufacturing labels to selling its first printers, securing major accounts like Royal Mail in 1997, which the business still operates; rebranding as The Barcode Warehouse in 1999 to support the business’ significant expansion into barcode technology and labelling solutions to over the next 23 years expanding operations from 1 to 3 sites, including the brand-new Innovation & Customer Experience Centre opened this year and growing to 280+ employees – the business has been on a long, unimaginable and exciting journey.

Kevan Mutton, Managing Director added: “Since joining the business 10 years ago, I have seen the business continually adapt, grow, and move into new markets. Now, we are on the next leg of The Barcode Warehouse’s journey, with the opening of our Innovation & Customer Experience Centre. Over the years, our expertise, solid customer relationships and ability to listen to and solve customers’ problems, have set the foundations for the solutions integrator we have become today.”

Now, the leading business technology solutions integrator in the industry and the go-to reselling partner to all the major B2B tech brands including Android, Samsung, Epson, Toshiba, Zebra, Honeywell, Datalogic plus many more; The Barcode Warehouse continues to expand, diversify, grow, and develop industry leading services and solutions.
