I joined Barcode in 1998 after working in the printing industry. Back then we were a very small group and as the company has grown, my job has developed with it and I’m now part of a management structure within the team. I believe I am incredibly lucky to have so much job satisfaction and I especially enjoy the 360° aspect of my role, from initial customer contact through to seeing the completed works out of the door. We are always on the look-out for new ideas, materials and ways of working that will deliver a quality service. We truly believe in a personable service, something that can easily be forgotten about in such a modern world.

This is my second employment at Barcode. I initially spent 5 years here but I left in 2011 to join a competitor. I came back after four years and it reinforced what a great company it is to work for. I now work in the Support Services department heading up the Solutions and Performance function. My role is incredibly varied, covering all elements of our Managed Services department from sales, marketing, contracts and all operational aspects. It involves defining the correct solution for our customers, delivering it and then making sure that, once it’s in operation, it remains the correct solution. I’m also involved in growing our services using new technologies and I love seeing a solution grow from an idea into reality. Barcode has massively helped in my career, developing my overall skillset and supporting me all the way.

Before joining Barcode in 2016 I worked as a Management Accountant for a ribbon and labelling manufacturer. I love challenges and problem solving and I have already learnt so much in my time here, including understanding complex business models and developing my process improvement skills. Barcode is a forward-thinking company and working here is fast paced and ever-changing. I’ve been working for Barcode since 2006, having joined from Currys/Dixons Store Group where I was a picker/replenishment worker in their main Hub. I was originally employed as a helpdesk operative on the night shift but my career has progressed and I am now responsible for provisioning and delivering the hardware for any project that is run from our Managed Services division. I enjoy the large size of projects we deal with and I like the satisfaction I get when we achieve things that from the outside look unachievable. I’m proof that if you work hard you will get noticed, it is a family run business that has a lot of employees who are allowed to move through the ranks and work their way up the ladder, as I have.

On my birthday, back in 2004, I left my job at the Dixons Stores Group and arrived at Barcode as Field Service Engineer – with a tub of Cadbury’s Celebrations! After progressing to provide 2nd line support for the field engineers I’m now Manager of the Service Centre for both our Field and Workshop teams – although I still like mucking in and getting my hands dirty! Having been at Barcode since the company was relatively small, I have grown to understand that every customer is different and has their own individual requirements. I have also gained technical understanding and strengthened my managerial skills in many areas through training, coaching and day-to-day experience. We’re continuing to grow and expand in all areas. Whatever your goals are, Barcode will help you to achieve them.
