When it comes to health and safety even the smallest things matter. That’s why we’ve made a small, but very important, upgrade to the K120. Already one of the most versatile rugged tablets on the market, used across a variety of industrial sectors where extreme conditions prevail, we have now made it ‘intrinsically safe’ in potentially explosive environments.
For a device to be intrinsically safe requires that the device itself, or the wiring and power within it, is not capable of releasing sufficient electrical or thermal energy under normal or abnormal conditions to cause ignition of a flammable or combustible atmospheric mixture in its most easily ignitable concentration. Accordingly, we have upgraded the K120 to make it non-incendiary, eliminating all risks that it will create a spark and trigger an explosion.
Under European Health and Safety regulations any device used in a potentially explosive environment needs to be ATEX certified – standing for ‘Atmospheres Explosibles’ – like the K120-Ex.
If you work in an environment where flammable gases, mists, vapours or combustible dusts are present then you are in a potentially explosive environment. Explosions risk loss of life and serious injuries as well as significant damage. Preventing sources of explosive ignition is an essential way of reducing the risk and keeping the workforce safe. At the same time, with a six feet drop resistance in operation mode, the device remains safe too.
