A decade of dedication: Liam Reid chalks up 10 years of collaboration, innovation and winning ways at TBW.

RFID Showcase Day

From deploying a high-security solution at Glastonbury Festival to shaping TBW’s Managed Services, Liam has had an incredible journey over the past 10 years (and then some!). First joining TBW in 2005, he’s played a key role in launching technical support and pioneering some of the company’s biggest projects - from the early RMG rollout to securing major contracts with one of the UK’s largest delivery brands and beyond. After a brief adventure elsewhere, Liam returned in 2015, bringing fresh expertise to drive sales growth, expand into Europe and help develop our acclaimed innovative ICE Centre.

Now, as Innovation and Technology Director, his impact continues to shape TBW’s future. This long service award is a well-deserved recognition of a decade (and counting!) of dedication, leadership and game-changing solutions.

Commenting on reaching the milestone Liam said: “I truly enjoy working at The Barcode Warehouse because of the wonderful team atmosphere, the drive and collaboration and the opportunities for growth and learning. In the last ten years the company has gone from strength to strength and always supported me in my career development and it’s great to be part of this amazing team. The last 10 years have whizzed by, and I am honoured to be recognised for my contributions over the years.”

Jo Lee, HR & Customer Services Director at The Barcode Warehouse said: “Liam embodies the values that form the foundation of our company, His positivity, collaboration and innovation are what helps drive us forward. Liam’s innovative approach to projects, and his fundamental ownership of them has been a key driver in our achievements. We are excited to celebrate this well-earned milestone with him.”

From technical support to trailblazing managed services

Liam Reid first joined TBW in 2005 to establish and set up the Technical Support function. Playing a pivotal role in the early rollout of RMG alongside Mark Duignan, Liam helped shape what would later become TBW’s Managed Services.

The dynamic Duignan-Reid duo was key in launching the Managed Service Desk, leading to Liam’s promotion to Service Introduction Manager. During this time, he was also instrumental in the wider RMG rollout of Intermec CN3s, establishing the original MMS function to manage deployments and swap-outs.

From festivals to fleet management

By 2009, Liam had taken his expertise to new heights, supporting a high-profile security management solution at Glastonbury Festival. He also played a crucial role in securing a contract with one of the UK's largest dedicated parcel delivery organisations helping to shape service setup, deployment, and even delivering end-user training at multiple locations which included creating training videos for couriers.

A return to lead growth and expansion

After a brief time away from TBW in leadership roles within asset management and service operations, Liam made his return in 2015 as TWB’s Head of Solutions and Performance. In this role, he was instrumental in driving sales and service growth, formalising a pricing model and leading TBW’s expansion into European markets. His contributions helped secure key customer wins with major brands such as Baxi, Kwik Fit, Alloga, Menzies Aviation, Lineage and TNT (FedEx). This impressive run of achievements led to his promotion to Head of Solutions in July 2017.

Shaping the future of innovation

By the end of 2021, Liam was tasked with helping to develop Newton House and its Innovation and Customer Experience Centre (ICE).

The Innovation & Customer Experience (ICE) Centre represents one of Liam’s proudest professional achievements - 25,000 sq. ft state-of-the-art facility designed to showcase innovative technology solutions across various industries.

Leading the ICE Centre’s development throughout 2022, he saw it through to its official opening in June 2023 and the formation of the ICE Centre Team.

"It's an exciting place to be," says Liam.

He continued: “At the ICE Centre, visitors can truly engage with interactive, industry-themed zones and attend tailored our famous Solutions Labs. Customers who come along get to experience first-hand how innovative technologies can address their business challenges, enhance productivity and streamline operations."

We have intentionally created a space that fosters a collaborative feeling – we have meeting spaces, an auditorium, training rooms and breakout areas making the centre the perfect setting for exploring new ways of working and forward-thinking solutions. Since we opened in June 2023 the ICE Centre has played a crucial role in helping a wide range of organisations make informed pragmatic and cost-effective decisions helping to drive growth through digital transformation.

Most recently, in December 2024, Liam spearheaded the creation of the Solutions and Implementations team, a major step toward expanding solution capabilities and driving new sales opportunities.
