Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance shines spotlight on its lifesaving work at TBW Breakfast Club

Taking centre stage at TBW’s March Breakfast Club was the inspiring Rachel Wilson - Head of Corporate, Community and Events fundraising at Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance (LNAA) - who joined us to share some insights and updates about the amazing work of LNAA.
As supporters and regular donors to LNAA since 2019 we know just how vital their work is across our region. Their service quite literally saves lives every single day and we heard first-hand just how LNAA crew, ground staff and volunteers do their work which was both powerful and uplifting.
During her talk, Rachel shared information about the work of the LNAA teams highlighting the importance of regular donations and support from the business community.
She said: “The service attends an average of four potentially life-saving incidents per day, at an estimated cost of £4,000 per mission and has annual operational costs totalling approximately £13 million per year. Whether it’s support from an organisation, individuals taking on a challenge event, someone making a regular donation or volunteering their time the support we receive from the local community is genuinely overwhelming. Every penny raised really does count as it enables us to continue to offer our life-saving service and purchase the equipment we need as the examples below show. A huge thank you to the Barcode Warehouse for their continued support.”
- £10 could fund a specialist trauma dressing or bandages
- £25 could buy a fibreglass leg splint to prevent further injury
- £50 could buy a single-use ventilator circuit that provides oxygen
Rachel Seneschall, TBW’s HR Advisor said: “This was a wonderful opportunity not just to learn something new, but also to understand how each of us can play a part in supporting our local community - whether by spreading the word, getting involved in fundraising or simply saying thanks to those who work tirelessly behind the scenes.”
Jo Lee, TBW’s HR and Customer Services Director added: “Our monthly Breakfast Clubs have now a popular fixture at TBW. They’re a chance for our teams to take a breather, catch up over cuppa and breakfast and hear from a mix of inspiring speakers - from charity partners to colleagues sharing updates about their work.
“We’re proud to be building a culture where community, connection and collaboration sits at the heart of our organisation.”
More about the work of LNAA
Since 1994, over 30,000 potentially life-saving missions have been flown, delivering pre-hospital emergency care across 3,500 square miles -the largest area in the UK covered by a single air ambulance helicopter.
In 2024, 1,724 incidents were attended, with a 24/7 operation ensuring readiness to respond at any time. The aircraft travels at 180mph, reaching any location within the service area in under 20 minutes.
In addition to the helicopter, two critical care cars provide enhanced flexibility and reach. One operates in Nottingham City Centre and surrounding areas, while the second responds from headquarters in Lincolnshire, primarily in urban locations or when weather conditions restrict air operations.
The organisation receives no government funding and remains entirely reliant on voluntary donations to sustain service delivery and response capabilities.
