In glorious spring sunshine on Sunday 27 April 2025, tens of thousands of runners took to the streets of the capital for the 2025 TCS London Marathon – and among them was our very Jo Lee who crossed the finish line with a brilliant personal time of 4:47
Running in support of - SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity - Jo has been overwhelmed by the support she’s received.
Her original fundraising target of £2,500 was not only met but far exceeded – with donations through her SSAFA fundraising page reaching a final total of £3002.00.
And, to top it off, The Barcode Warehouse have added to the final total raised for SSAFA with a corporate donation to roundup the fundraising to £4,000, helping boost the impact of Jo’s efforts even further.
No stranger to endurance cycle sportive and running challenges, Jo Lee said: “It was an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere was amazing, the cheering crowds, the scorching sunshine and blue skies over London – it just all added to the brilliance of the day.
“I’m especially grateful for the kindness and generosity of everyone who’s donated. I was worried I might not hit my original fundraising target so to beat it makes all the difference - it really spurred me on when things got really hot and tough around the 22-mile mark.
“I’m so very proud to have run for SSAFA and so happy that so many colleagues, friends and family got behind a charitable cause that really matters.”
This year’s marathon saw the largest number of runners ever. More than 56,000 runners tackled the iconic 26.2-mile route, which winds through some of London’s most recognisable landmarks – from Greenwich and Tower Bridge to the Mall, where the cheers from the crowds’ welcomed finishers.
The London Marathon, first held in 1981, has grown into one of the largest and most prestigious running events in the world – a celebration of endurance, community and giving back. And Jo’s run was no exception.
SSAFA provides lifelong support to serving men and women, veterans, and their families. Jo’s fundraising will directly contribute to helping those in the Armed Forces community who need it most.
The Barcode Warehouse team is incredibly proud of Jo’s achievement and thrilled to have played a part in supporting such an important cause.
