The case study
The Barcode Warehouse, in partnership with Falcona, has delivered Whitworth Bros with an asset management solution that has increased user visibility and traceability, and improved device availability. Read more below to learn about how Whitworth Bros have implemented the easy-to-use solution.
Who are Whitworth Bros?
Whitworth Bros. Ltd are independent specialist flour millers established in 1886, based in Wellingborough, UK. With multiple sites and multiple mills, they are one of Europe’s largest flour millers, producing a wide range of flours.
What challenges did Whitworth Bros face?
“Within our facility we had several challenges trying to manage our Zebra TC78 devices effectively, our main objectives were based on improving asset management, device readiness and availability which were impacting the day-to-day operations.” Mark Bennell, ERP Application System Analyst, Whitworth Bros. Ltd.
What was the solution proposed by The Barcode Warehouse?
“Working with our Account Manager at The Barcode Warehouse, we started to evaluate the market looking at various asset management solutions and discovered Falcona’s Podloc that runs with Vlocr software. This immediately addressed our core issues, the Podloc would give us full user visibility, knowing who took which device, the time it was returned and if returned damaged who had it last. This reduced our damages overnight and improved our device availability. The charging capability inside the Podloc gave us an “always charged and ready” situation as well as saving us valuable space; we located these on the wall which freed up some desktop space from the previous gang chargers.
Our final challenge was making the TC78 work with the Podloc to accommodate our Snap on Pistol Grips, the solution was made simple: we now have a rack of Pistol grips, next to the Podloc’s, we simply snap a pistol grip on and off when required.” Mark Bennell, ERP Application System Analyst, Whitworth Bros. Ltd.
Additional value from the solution
“As well as being an easy solution to both introduce and use, we also found the Vlocr portal user friendly, GPS location for device tracking really helps, and the automatic “missing” email or text alert means we can deal with the here and now finding misplaced devices immediately.
Adding users is quick and simple, defining the access both to the portal and the Pod’s is straight forward, and done with ease. We are looking forward to future developments to both the portal and device app to maximise the potential of the Podloc.” Mark Bennell, ERP Application System Analyst, Whitworth Bros. Ltd.
