Case Study
Transforming retail POS for sustainability & efficiency
Retail | Multi-site retail operation across Wales and Western England
Technology Partner: Epson
The Challenge
The retailer operates in the Country Store sector across 8 locations and was using an outdated, manual process for creating in-store promotional materials and POS signage. Staff had to print materials on standard sheets and cut them out by hand – a time-consuming, inconsistent method that also generated significant paper waste.
As the retailer set new sustainability goals and looked to increase store-level efficiency, they needed a modern, scalable solution that would reduce waste, save time and be easy for their store colleagues to use.
The Solution
The Barcode Warehouse (TBW) delivered a tailored POS printing solution powered by Epson ColorWorks technology. The new process was designed to:
- Print on continuous media with built-in perforations, allowing for exact sizing of POS materials
- Eliminate the need for manual cutting
- Significantly reduce paper waste
As an Epson Colour Label+ and POS+ Authorised Partner TBW customised the solution to meet the retailer’s specific workflow and operational needs.
The Results
- Minimised paper waste by reducing overprinting and trimming
- Increased productivity at store level – faster prep and fewer manual tasks for staff
- Improved POS accuracy and professional presentation
- Stronger alignment with sustainability goals and corporate responsibility targets
Georgina Wilkinson, TBW, Key Account Manager, added: “As the retail sector continues to remain under cost and resource management pressures whilst also working toward net zero, it’s vital we deliver print solutions that enable our retail customers to reduce their waste footprint and increase operational efficiency."
