About the Role

As a Technical Solutions Engineer, you’ll play a key role in delivering technical expertise across pre-sales, implementation, and ongoing customer engagement activities. Working closely with Technical Leads and Account Managers, you’ll help design and present tailored technology solutions to customers across a variety of verticals including logistics, warehousing, retail, and field services.

This is a customer-facing role that combines technical consulting, solution design, and hands-on involvement with technologies such as handheld mobile computing, RFID, MDM, machine vision, electronic shelf edge labels, and more. In addition to design and consultancy work, you’ll be actively involved in physical deployment tasks—such as hardware installation, device mounting, basic cabling, and onsite configuration, often in industrial or warehouse environments. You’ll also be expected to identify opportunities for expanding our footprint and supporting our growth strategy through both technical insight and strong customer engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside Technical Leads and Account Managers to understand customer needs and deliver technically sound solutions
  • Conduct onsite surveys and assessments, capturing technical requirements and operational challenges
  • Support proof-of-concept (POC) design, setup, and implementation
  • Carry out hardware installation and configuration, including mounting devices, connecting peripherals, and system testing
  • Perform physical site tasks such as cabling, device positioning, and infrastructure layout as part of solution deployment
  • Comfortable working at height or in warehouse/industrial environments when required
  • Apply practical troubleshooting and fault-finding skills during onsite visits and installations
  • Create and deliver technical documentation, presentations, and solution proposals
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure solutions are feasible, scalable, and aligned with customer expectations
  • Participate in customer meetings and site visits as a technical representative
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant technologies and vendor offerings
  • Identify potential upsell or cross-sell opportunities through technical engagement
  • Assist in post-implementation knowledge transfer

Skills & Experience Required

  • Strong technical background in enterprise mobility, scanning, RFID, or similar technologies
  • Good understanding of relevant software solutions (WMS, RFID, Asset Management)
  • Experience in a pre-sales, technical consulting, or solution engineering role
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences
  • Comfortable working across a variety of verticals and adapting to different customer environments
  • Strong documentation and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work independently or as part of a team
  • Knowledge of MDM platforms (e.g., SOTI, 42Gears) is an advantage
  • Experience with RFID technology would be preferable but not essential

Salary is Competitive - £35,000-£40,000 DOE
